London, J ulv 17. A Western Australian loan of LIOO.OOO at 4 per cent is announced to be placed on the market on Tuesday next. The minimum is fixed at LI 07 10h. The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,700,000 quarters, and for the Com, tinent 196,000 quaitcrs. The American visible supply of wheat is 12,750,000 bushels. The English wheat market is steady. The Continental is also steady, while the American has changed a little for the worse. New Zealand mutton is neglected at sid. Galvanised iron, Orb brand, Ll 6 15s. (Received July 18, 12.40 p.m.) Melbourne, July 18. A dense fog was experienced in the city yesterday, and all railway and street traffic was suspended. Numerous casualties are reported, but none of a serious character. A nugget containing 4610 z of pure gold has been discovered by a poor man working in a mine in the Tamagulla township, situated about 135 miles north-west of Melbourne. The body of a woman named Annie Thornton has been discovered in a cottage in the city, and there is but little doubt that a foul murder has been committed. From the condition of the corpse, it is apparent that the murder took place quite a week ago. The police are making active inquiries, but as yet have no clue to the perpetrators. Thursday Island, July 18. The boat containing the mate and five of the crew of the German barque Kenilworth, wrecked at Fly River, New Guinea, and which was reported missing, has arrived safely.
