THOSE TERRIBLE BOYS.
The stone-throwing by the youth of this city is becoming not only an intolerable nuisance and a source of danger, but is developing
into a serious outrage, me xatesc iau iut these young miscreants is to take pot shotg with a catapult at the lanterns erected for the electric light. No fewer than 30 of them were broken up to Tuesday night, and between 60 and 70 of the insulators are smashed. The breakage means a serious loss to the contractors, and, as in a few weeks time the incandescent lamps will bes placed in the lanterns, a stone -which breaks the glass of the latter will also destroy the former. This will at once put out the light. At the present rate of progress in destroying these lanterns before the winter is well over, not a single light will exist in our streets. It is to be hoped that when some of these larrikins are caught the authorities will administer tlio severest punishment that they can inflict. We trust that any citizen who takes pride in seeing our city properly lighted will, when he sees mischief of this kind going on, promptly hand over the offender to justice.
