Laßt night week the officers of the Port Nicholson Yaoht Club, consisting of Mr E. W, Mills (Vice-Commodore), Mr W. H. Quiok (Rear-Commodore), and the Secretary," met at Mr J. H. Cook’s office for the purpose of presenting to Mr H. Lawson, the owner of the yaoht Girola, the prize given by Mr Cock for the first-class yacht race on the 22nd of January last. The presentation was made by Mr E. W. Mills in felicitous terms, in whioh he alluded to the spontaneous offer of Mr Cock to give a prize for competition for the first class yachts, and to the satisfaction Lhat was felt by every lover of aquatio eport that so handsome a trophy had been won by the Girola. The win of the Girola was a very popular one, and Mr Mills skid he felt sure* that the intrinsic value of the prize would compensate the> dwnOt for notz winning first place in the second competition. - Mr Rawson suitably replied, and said he apDreciated the handsome trophy; which would always be to him something he cOuid exhibit with pride!
