Passengers —Misses Good, Dodd, Dickson, Mesdames Paterson, Wilmot and Son, Stock. Thomson, Paterson, Rev. Macfarlane, Messrs Millett, Stack, Johnston, Reynolds, Penny and Buchanan. The ship Margaret Galbraith sailed on Saturday afternoon for London, being towed out by .the steamer Mana. The ship Jessie Readman got away for Dunedin on Saturday afternoon, the Mana towing her to windward. The U.S.S. Co.’s ss Pukaki, from Newcastle, arrived here at 4.15 am on Saturday. She left there on the 27th ult., had moderate variable winds and fine weather throughout, arriving as above. She sailed next morning for Lyttelton. * The U;S; SI Co’s ss Wairarapa, from Melbourne, via Hobart and Southern ports, arrived here at 10.45 am on Saturday. She left Williamstown on the 26th ult., Hobart on the 27th, Bluff on the 31st, and Lyttelton (via Dunedin) at 5.30 pm on Saturday, arriving as above. She sailed on Saturday evening for East Coast ports and Auckland. The U.S.S. Co's ss Australia left Auckland on the Ist instant at 6 pm, called at Awanui, Waipero, Tokomatu, and Gisborne, and arrived Napier on the 4th at 9 am ; left same day at 4 pm, and arrived here on the sth at 5.30 pm. She experienced fine weather throughout the passage. The S.S. and A. Co’s ss Coptic left Lyttelton at 5,53 am on Saturday, passed Godley Head at 6.28 am, Kaikoura Peninsula 11.50 am, Cape Campbell 6.32 pm, Penearrow Head 10 pm, and arrived here at 11.45 pm. She experienced light northerly winds and fine weather to Waipapa Point, thence to Penearrow strong north-west winds and head seas. The U.S.S. Co’s ss Mawhera left Dunedin at 10 pm on the 3rd instant, called at Oamaru and Timaru and left Lyttelton at 2.15 pm on the sth, arriving here at 1 pm yesterday. She experienced fine weather from Dunedin to the Kaikouras, thence to arrival vtrorg NW gales. She sailed on Monday for Greymouth. The U.S.S. Oo’e ss Koranui left Greymouth at 10.30 pm on the 4th, and reached Westport at 10 am on the sth; left again at noon, and arrived at Nelson at 9 am on Sunday ; sailed again at 11 am, and arrived here at 11.15 pm. She experienced light breezes and fine weather to Cape Farewell, and strong north-west winds and heavy sea to arrival. / Mr Rawson’s yacht Girola returned from her pleasure trip to the Sounds on Monday, arriving here at midday. She had very rough weather coming across the Strait.

The U.S.S. Co'a ss Wanaka arrived from Onehunga and New Plymouth with the San Francisco mail at 1 am on Monday. She went round to the Slip directly after for cleaning, Bad on coming off sr iled for Northern porta. The U.S.S. Co’s ss Manapouri, from Auckland via East Coast, arrived here at 4.30 am on Monday, and continued her journey to Melbourne, via Southern ports and Hobart, in the afternoon. She left Auckland at 1.15 pm on the4th inst, Gisborne next day, Napier at 10 am on the 6th, arriving as above. She had strong northerly and variable winds and high-sea from Napier to arrival. The U.S.S. Co’s ss Tarawera makes her annual pleasure excursion to the Sounds shortly, and in consequence she will tranship her Melbourne passengers (with which she arrived at the Bluff ou Monday) and cargo to the Waihora at Dunedin, and tha latter vessel will bring them North. The U.S.S. Co’s es Mahinapua, from Southern ports, arrived here at 9.45 am on Tuesday. She left Dunedin at 9pm on the 4th instant, and Lyttelton (where she arrived via Tiniaru and Akaroa) at 3 pm on the 7th, Arriving as above. She sailed on Tuesday afternoon for Nelson and Weatport - The New Zealand Shipping Co’s R.M.S. Ruapehu, from London, via way ports and Dunedin and Lyttelton, arrived here at S am on Wednesdaj', she having left the latter port at 7.30 pm on the Sth. Her passenger list and report have already been published in this paper. Captain E. A. Findlay, her present commander, joined her at Lyttelton, when he took her over from Captain Mayoss, who brought her from London. The Ruapehu sails finally from Lyttelton on the 24 th inst for London. The S.S. and A. Co’s ship Invercargill went into the stream on Wednesday morning, and sails for Napier (where she loads for London) with the first favourable wind. The S.S. and A. Co’s ship Merope, which comes here from Newcastle to load for London, may be expected shortly. The U.S.S. Co’s sb Rotorua, from Nelson and Picton, arrived here at 6 am Wednesday, having left the former port at 1 pm on the Bth, and Picton at midnight. She sailed for Southern ports on Wednesday afternoon. The U.S.S. Co’s ss Wakatipu from Sydney arrived here early Wednesday morning. She left Sydney at 4 am on the 4th, and experienced heavy squalls with'tain for the first two days, thence variable weather to arrival sb above. She sailed the same afternoon for Southern ports. The U.S.S. Co’s ss Takapuna, from Northern ports, arrived here at 8.15 Wednesday night. She left Manukau at 12.30 pm on Tuesday, and arrived at Taranaki at 4.15 am next day ; left again at 5.30, and arrived as above. She experienced thick weather during the passage. The Takapuna left for Nelson same night. The U.S.S. Go’s ss Brunner left Greymouth at 3.25 pm on the Sth, and experienced strong head windß and moderate sea to arrival at 10.45 on Wednesday night. NEW ZEALAND SHIPPING COMPANY'S SHIP TURAKINA. The ship Turakina, from London, which arrived off the Heads last Friday night, got in Tuesday morning, and was towed to the wharf by the steamer Mana at 10 a.m. Of her passage out Captain Power reports as follows She left London on the 3rd Oct., and experienced strong westerly- winds with heavy head sea in the Channel. ‘ Got the N.E. Trades in latitude 25deg 31min N., longitude 21deg W\, on the 20th Oct., continuing till the 25th (12deg N. 26deg W. ); thence light airs, calms, and doldrums. The Trades were strong, and lasted to 13th Nov. Crossed the meridian of Greenwich on 26th Nov., in latitude 40deg S. From the 9th Dec. to the 12th had heavy gale with high sea, which carried away part of -the poop bulwarks; thence fresh breezes with fine weather to passing Tasmania on the 26th ; afterward fine weather to arrival at tha Heads on the 4th instant, and since then she has been windbound. The Turakina loads at Napier for England.
