After 15 months’ delay the English Treasury have at la it sanctioned the provision of two telescopes to enable Greenwich and the Cape of Good Hope observatories to take their share in the international scheme for chart ine the heavens by photography. Theie will now be five British and colonial or ser. vatories taking part in the work, as instruments were ordered some months back for Oxford University, Sydney and Melbourne Observatories, but their construction has been delayed by the tardinesß of the Go vernment in arriving at a decision.
