The usual weekly meeting of tho Benevolent Society Trustees was held in the Corporation Buildings on Tuesday afternoon, there being present Rev H. Van Staveren (chairman), Messrs Allen, Danks, Smith, Kebbell, and Young. Relief was granted in a number of cases brought up by the Relieving Officer. The Chairman reported that ho had received a sum of money from the District Board, and it had been placed in the bank to the credit of the institution. The following accounts were passed for payment:—Jansen, groceries, £IOO 18s Sd ; Barry, £53 ISs 6d, and Allen £23 15s 6d, board and lodging ; and U.S.S. Co., £1 12s. It was stated that the total amount of the accounts wa3 about £8 less than last month. After some further routine business had been transacted the meeting adjourned.
