OPERA HOUSE MEETING.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND MAIL. Sir, —The meeting, of the Opera House Company last evening was in every way discreditable to iho city in which we live. A lot of odium is thrown on the Directors ; and for what? Simply because the house was burned down, and the funds of the Company were destroyed, amounting to some L 25. This appears to bo the whole charge against the Directors. I am surprised at Mr A. Young taking up the position at the meeting he did, r.nd expressing his wish that the Directors could be made personally iesponsible for, I suppose, the L 25 odd. I presume the other Directors individually would not shirk this responsibility even if they were not legally responsible, as the amount would be a mere bagatelle to aach. It is somewhat amusing to seo the attitude taken up by, Mr Dransfield and Mr McLean. Both have posed in public, and the public can judge with regard to what either has said at the , meeting.—l am, &c., A Shareholder. April 19.
