RICH GOLD DISCOVERY.

ore Worth £II,OOO per ton. (pee PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, April 23. Messrs J. Fraser and Sons have just completed a small crushing of very rich ore at their reducing pans at tbs Phoenix Foundry for some prospectors who have evidently made a rioh discovery. The locality of the find is on the Coromandel Peninsula, between the head of the Manaia and Mercury Bay, and the total quantity crushed was Gibs of stoue, the result of which was lOf oz of gold of a value of over £3 per ounce. It was in fact nearly pure gold, containing a very small proportion of silver. The result is eaual to a value of £II,OOO to the ton, and tho whole cost of treatment of the parcel was only ten shillings. The lode from which the specimens were taken was considerably more inland than the previous discoveries on this range.
