NEWS FROM SAN REMO.
Writing under date? March Ist, Air* Labouchere says :—I havr received it letter from San Rmo from an individual who is in a position to know the real truth about the Crown Prince, from which tho following passages are extracted :—- There is not tho slightest hope of the Grown Prince’s recovery, and it is exceedingly doubtful whether he will livefor more than a few weeks. The bullet ins are mere fairy tales. They are rigorously revised by the court, officials, and are loss more reliable than the famous notification respecting Prince Albert, which, declared that his fever was “ unattended by unfavorable symptoms." when at that very time ho was practically a dead man. The physicians and surgeons in attendance on the Crown Prince* are in a state of cruel embarrassment, forthey are obliged to give qua3i favorable> reports to the innumerable cor.respondents by whom they are beset. The German practitioners are furiously jealous of Sir Morell Mackenzie, who, as they wall know, has stayed here solely in compliance with the entreaties of tlie> Grown Prince, who seems to regard hinn as his last earthly hope, and the Crown Princess fully shares her husband’s sentiments. There was a difference of opinioni between Sir Morell and the Germans,, both as to the precise form of the pipe* which was to be placed in the Crown Prince’s throat after the and! also as to his treatment, and events i.ave> justified the views of the jiuigliie. specialist, . „ . The fact \s, that it would be infinitely better for the patient if he were confided entirely to Sir Aforsll Mackenzie, and this is what ho himself would desire ; but German susceptibilities roust not h& wounded, and it may be doubted whether Sir Morell would now undertake the so.a chafgd of the case, as, when the end soi«es., the fatal itfstie would, of course, be attributed to British blundering ; but eveia Professor Bergmalra and his colleagues have been struck with admiration at the almost supernatural dexterity with wnick. Sir Morell manipulates tils' interior ofc the throat, and during the present week he has succeeded in removing some obstruction which was threatening to itafiocate tho CrowD Prince in one of his severe fits of coughing, and by doing he saved the life of the patient, as, wilu all their skill, the German surgeons are quite incapable of such work. . The Grown Prince is greatly worried about his private affairs, and I am sorry to have to confirm the unfavorable report's as to Prince William which have recently been current. He has practically refuseti to facilitate arrangements which ins faints' is desirous of carrying out (tw appreciate the importance of his attitude it is necessary to understand that the Emperor William is now in a state of senile dementia), and he has behaved with a perfectly barbarous rudeness to Ins mother. If he is coming here, as people say, lfc !S not by his parents’ invitation.
