The Emperor is slightly improved, and it is believed that his recent illness was the result of an abscess in the trachea. Berlin, April 19. There is intense anxiety regarding the condition of the Emperor. Berlin, April 20. The condition of the Emperor has improved since the discharge from the abscesses in the trachea. (rER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Berlin, April 18. The Emperor is worse. Bloodpoisoning is feared. Later. The Emperor appeared at the windows of his palace three times during the day, and received a great ovation from the crowds assembled below. Blood-poisoning set in this evening, and the worst is considered imminent. It has been found necessary to insert a larger canula in the Emperor’s throat to facilitate breathing. The operation was successfully performed. Berlin, April 19. The gravest fears were entertained of the fate of the Emperor until this afternoon, when he slept well, and upon awakening was slightly better. Orders have been issued for the seizure of the papers containing insulting references to the Empress. Berlin, April 20, 5.30 a.m. The Emperor’s sufferings during the night were intense, and he constantly prayed to be released from the pain from which he was never free Since midnight there have been immense discharges from the throat. The Emperor persists in conducting State business even in his bed. Her Majesty the Queen of England is expected to reach Berlin to-morrow. Berlin, April 21. Fresh abscesses have appeared in the>. trachea of the Emperor, who is suffering from fainting fits, and there is appearance of dropsy having set in. His Majesty is unable to speak. The medical gentlemen in attendance upon him have ordered that the canula inserted in his throat should be cleaned every few minutes. Berlin, April 22, 7.30 a.m.

The temperature of the Emperor is lower, his breathing is easier and his cough less frequent. The physicians regard this improvement in his condition as only another phrase of the disease from which he is suffering. His Majesty’s condition is considered to be most critical, though he may pull through for some weeks. Her Majesty the Queen is on her way to Berlin, and returns to Windsor on Thursday. Berlin, April 22. The condition of the Emperor shows a decided improvement, aud the physicians are hopeful that the present attack has been overcome. SPECIAL. Berlin, April 21. The daily bulletins issued- respecting the Emperor’s health are less hopeful and state that the fever increases nightly.
