THE UNIVERSITY BOAT RACE,

The Cambridge-Oxford boat race was won by Cambridge by five lenglhs. Cambridge led at the start, and kept ahoad throughout the race. Time, 20min 3sec. The weather was foggy. Later. The race between Oxford and Cambridge was regarded os a foregone .conclusion, but still large crowds assembled to witness it. Cambridge had it all their own way from the start, aud won without a struggle. It was the tamest race on record. Cambridge also won the deciding event at the University sports. STAR BOATING CLUB. The following twelve crews havo been pioked to row for the Star Club’s McLean Fours, the first heat of which will be rowed on Thursday, the sth April :—E. Jackson (stroke), Duncan. I? L. There i 3 a probability of a sculling matoh being arranged between MoKay aud Foster, of Napier, for a trophy.
