LAND BOARD.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the Land Board was held iu the Crown Lands Offiee yesterday morning. Present Messrs.H. Bunny (in the chair), G. Beetham, M BCR., W. W. MeCardle, W. A. Fitzherbert, and A. Reese. The sohedule of lands showed that 68 acres 2 roods 1 perch had been sold at an upset price of £27 5s since last meeting. The following applications to transfer were received, and approved on the usual conditions. D. T. Sexton, section 53, Block VIII., Mangahao, to M. E. J. B. Williams ; P. H. Thurston, section 7, Block 111., Wairoa, to J.. S. Smith ; C. Crew, section 14, Block IV., Makuri, to G. A. Shannon. The following applications to capitalise were received and approved :P. H. Thurston, section 7, Block 111., Wairoa; M. M. Brownie, section 2, Block XII., Oroua ; E. T. Harrison, section 14, Block XII, Oroua ; D. Charrier, section 4, Block VIII., Makuri ; and C. Crewe, section 4, Block VIII., Mangahao, the two latter also made application to obtain title. Mr C. T. Simpson forwarded a declaration that his license to occupy section 55, Block XIII. Pokangina, had been lost, and applied for a new one. Approved. The Commissioner reported that the balance of the small runs, Mauagakaretu Block and the pastoral rnna, sea coast, would be thrown open for application on May 27 th, ISS7. Mr Birnie forwarded a tracing showing the position of the laud adjoining section 124, block 7, Mangahoa, he wished to lease. To be informed that the Board has no power to grant the lease. Mr H. Manus wrote stating that he had effected certain improvements on section 11, Block 4, Makuri, and asked to be protected for the cost of same. The Board decided to refer Mr Manns to Mr Rhodes, Barry’s agent. Application was received from Mr E. L. Vince that the transfer of section 7, Block VII., Mangahone, from D. Bell to himself, be nowallowed to proceed. Approved on the motion of Mr McArdle. The Official Assignee (Masterton), and W. T. L. Travers, wrote, both claiming all moneys due to D. F. McCarthy on account of section 6, Block XII., Mangahao. The Board resolved to ask the Government how they should proceed. Maika Matiaha wrote stating that he wished to take np section 4, Block VIII., Wainuioru, separately from the other sections as a small run. It was resolved to offer the land as a small run. Mr E. A. Campbell applied for the approval of the Board to a sub-lease of part of a small run, No. 27, Nnkumarn, Approved. On the motion of Mr Fitzherbert, seconded by Mr Reese, it was decided that one lease should be issued to lessees under pastoral runs, instead of a number, and only one fee charged. The Board then adjourned.
