Messrs George Thomas and Co report pro-; duce prices :—There are general complaints respecting the quality of the new flour as . a first-rate bread producer ; this is accounted for by the fact of the wheat having been harvested too early, and thus, not being quite ripe, a certain amount of moisture is still left in the grain, which causes weakness pit is to be hoped that this fault will not be found running through the whole season, but confined to present small stocks in millers’ hands. We are unable to note any difference in either quotations or demand for leading lines, and therefore repeat to a great extent last week’s quotations. Flour, L 1 0; fowls’ wheat, 3s 3d to 3s 6d ; pollard, L 4 10s; bran, L 4 ; wheatmeal, LlO ; oats, short feed, 2s to 2s 2d ; Danish and Tartarian, Is lOd to 2s per bushel; oatmeal, LlO 103; samples of new grain feed barley just to hand are ruling from 2s 9d per bushel; maize expected daily, anticipated opening value being 4s per bushel; beans, 3s 9d; peas, 3s 6d; oiten chaff, L 3 10s; sheaves, L 4 10s; Oamaru potatoes, 52s 6d; Blenheim, 50s per ton ; onions, L 7 ; cheese, overstocked, 4£d to 5d ; salt butter, market glutted, nominal value 6d ; fresh, 6d to 7d per lb ; honey, 5d ; rye grass, 3s 6d; cocksfoot, 3|d per lb ; hams and bacon, factory cure, 7d ; farmers’ cure, 3d to 4d per lb; eggs, scarce at 2s 61 per dozen. With the exception of a shipment of oranges, lemons, pears, and apples, from Sydney, which: realised'fair prices, there have been no arrivals ? of fruits, and the market will be quite ready for usual Hobart consignments. Poultry remains very dull at following rates—fowls, 2s 9d to 3s ; ducks, 3s ; geese, 5s ; turkeys, 8s 6d per pair.
