MEETING OF THE SENATE OF THE UNIVERSITY.

A special session of the Senate of the University Senate was held on Monday at 12.30 p.m., at the University office. Present —The Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor, Hon Dr Grace, Hon Sir R. Stout, Rev JMr Habens, Professor J. M. Brown. The report of the examiners in England for the examinations of November,. 1886 (of which telegraphic summaries were received in February last), having been considered, it was resolved as follows : 1. That the degree of Doctor of Laws be conferred on F. Fitchett, LL.B., Dunedin. 2. That the degree of Master of Arts be conferred on E. S. Milsom, 8.A., Christchurch, with third-class honors in Latin and English; W. H. A. Craddock, 8.A., Christchurch, with third-class honors in Latin and English ; E. Pitcaithly, 8.A., Christchurch, with second-class honors in Latin and English ; P. Levi, 8.A., Dunedin, with secondclass honors in Mental Science. 3. That the degrees of Bachelor of Laws be conferred on J. S. Findlay, Dunedin ; W. A. Stout, 8.A., Dunedin. 4. That the degree of Bachelor of Arts be conferred on—A. J. Park, Christchurch ; M. A. The Senate further resolved that the meeting of Convocation for the purpose of electing a member of Senate (a vacancy having occurred) should be held at the time of the ordinary meeting of Convocation, January 11th, 1888. The Senate further agreed upon the annual report to be forwarded to hia Excellency the Governor, and then adjourned sine die.
