AUCKLAND SOCIETY OF ARTS.
Auckland, April 14. The Auckland Society of Arts has rejected 100 pictures for want of wall space in the new gallery ; 800 pictures were received iu all. Later. The Auckland Society of Arts Exhibition was opened co-night by a conversazione, which was crowded to excess. Mr Mackechnie, Vice-President, in the absenoe of the President, Mr J. McCoshClark, attheThames, delivered an inaugural address. The show of pictures was splendid, and nothing equal to it had been seen in Auckland.
