OUR FASHIONS. of placing before yon our Imports for Autumn and Winter, we deem it necessary to state that for some time hack a revolution has been steadily gaining ground to the decided gain of consumers. Manufacturers having realized the fact that Retail Establishments of sound repute are becoming directly the distributors of their manuiactures, now open their doors wide to such accounts, and place them on an equal footing with the “ middleman ” or “ Wholesale Warehouseman.” This favoured position has been enjoyed by us for some time, and we aie in. the same capacity for buying as The Largest Australasian Buyer from the fact that our Mr. KIRKCALDIE of LONDON, who has been connected with us for nearly twenty yeais, represents Five large Importing Houses, including Wholesale and Retail. His buying is styled about the keenest in Great Britain, and, as a single buyer, few in the Old Country pass as much Drapery as he does ; hence we claim to be in the position to give Exceptional Value in all departments of Drapery, all of which are purchased from Manufacturers, and For Ready Money thus taking advantage of every concession favourable to keen buying and selling. Our intentions for the present season are to strictly carry on our scheme of Marking all our Goods in Plain Figures at Wholesale Prices, and respectfully soliciting in return Prompt Cash Payments, as this latter condition alone can enable us to prosecute successfully the manner our business has been conducted during the Past Two Years. As our imports are on an unusually Large Scale, we are precluded from quoting prices of our Exhibits in this circular ; but would ask that you favour us either with a call, or make application for patterns of such goods that may be desired by you, leaving in your hands the verdict for sterling value whether we can best supply the Fashions of the daj or otherwise. Opportunities are frequently presented to our Mr. KIRKCALDIE of buying LARGE PARCELS TO CLEAR as the home season draws to a close of such lines. This season is especially favoured, and in a number of Departments, Goods can be purchased in our premises at less cost than they can be had in London.
