London, February 8. The death is announced of Mr Peter Bylands, M.P. for Burnley, the well-known ironmaster, aged 66. London, February 9.

A meeting of Socialists was held at Clerkenwell yesterday, and after its conclusion a body of roughs broke into and damaged several of the shops in the neighborhood. Mr J. Norton, the delegate from the New South Wales Trade and Labor Council, had an interview with Sir Henry Holland to-day, and claimed admission to the forthcoming Imperial Conference. The Secretary of State for the Colonies declined to admit Mr Norton s claim, but promised to consider the question of admitting a representative of Australian .operatives to the Emigration Bureau.
