BANQUET TO ADMIRAL SCOTT.

(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Dunedin, February 1. There was a large representative gathering at a banquet given this evening to RearAdmiral Scott, who is about to leave the Colony for England. His Excellency the Governor was present. Mr E. B. Cargill was in the chair, and the gathering was a brilliant one. In the course of his remarks in two speeches which he made, his Excellency paid a high tribute to the services rendered to the Army and Navy by Admiral Scott’s inventions in regard to gun carriages. His Excellency also said he bad great faith in the future of the Colony, and would be satisfied to remain here so long as Her Majesty was pleased to allow him,
