THE NEW SOUTH WALES MINISTRY.
By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. (REUTER’S TELEGRAMS.) Sydney, January 19. The new Ministry has been formed by Sir Henry Parke?, but the allotment of portfolios has not yet been disclosed. It is stated that Sir Henry’s colleagues will comprise Messrsßurns, Foster, Abigail, Inglis, Clark, and Sydney Smith. Sydney, January 19.
The following constitute the new Ministry : —Sir Henry Parkes, Colonial Secretary and Premier; Mr J. J. Burns, Colonial Treasurer ; Mr John Sutherland, Minister of Public Works; Mr Thomas Garrett, Minister of Lands ; Mr W. J. Foster, AttorneyGeneral ; Mr J. Inglis, Minister of Education; Mr Francis Abigail, Minister of Mines; Mr R. H. Roberts, Postmaster-General; Mr W. Clark, Minister of Justice. It is considered probable that Mr Barton, late Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, will accept the position of VicePresident of the Executive Council, which appointment Mr G. H. Reid has declined.
In the Legislative Assembly tonight, after an acrimonious debate, the House declined to grant supplies by 44i to 37 until the Ministry shall have been formally declared. The new Ministry were sworn in this morning, with the exception of Sir Henry Parkes, who, as Vice-President of the Executive Council, will ask for supplies himself. Sydney, January 20. The new Ministry was sworn in yesterday morning, but the names of the members were not disclosed to th 9 Assembly during yesterday’s sitting.
