NEW MASONIC LODGE AT PETONE.
The ceremony of consecrating and installing the officers of the Ulster Lodge, Irish Constitution (Petone).wasperformed Wednesday night, in the new Oddfellow’s Hall, Petone. The occasion was one of considerable interest to the Masonic fraternity, and over a hundred members of the craft left town by special train' at half-past seven. The number of people present at the time of the opening of the Lodge was estimated at 140. The varied regalia of the three constitutions, English, Irish and Scotch, produced a very brilliant effect. The Lodge was tyled shortly after 8 p.m, when the Provincial Grand Officers and officers and members of the several City Lodges, and visiting brethren from other Lodges, were received with the usual honors. The Installing Masters were Bro. J. W. Ellison, W.M., 469 1.C., and Bro. James Patterson, P. M., 469 I.C. Bro. G. C. Fownes, P.M., 469 1.C., acted as Director of Ceremonies, and there was a full orchestra, consisting of Bro. George Robertson, at the piano, Bros. A. King, W. F. Parsons, J. W. jail], ana others. The dispensation of the Lodge, under the seal of the Provincial Grand Lodge officers of the North Island, was read, after which the Lodge was duly consecrated in accordance with ancient custom. The officers-elect were then duly presented and installed in their various positions by P.M. James Patterson. The R.W.M. is P*m! Bro. R. C. Hamerton; S.W., Bro. Isaac Carley, P.M. ; J.W., Bro. Alexander Grant; Secretary, Bro. James Curtis; Treasurer, Bro. F. J. Dawes; Chaplain, Bro. the Rev. Joshua Jones; S.D., Bro. Charles Haine3; J.D., Bro. Stephen Curtis; 1.G., Bro. Charles Howe; Director of Ceremonies, Bro. N. Valentine ; Organist, Bro. W. Foster ; J.S., Bro. Wm. Gough; Tyler, Bro. James Miller. An address to the W.M. was delivered by Bro. Fownes, P.M., and an address to the Wardens and brethren by Bro. Ellison, W.M. of the Leinster Lodge. At the conclusion the brethren adjourned to a spread which had been prepared, where mutual good wishes were interchanged for the success of tfie Lodge and craft generally.
I The ceremonies throughout the evening i were interspersed with appropriate musical and vocal selections. The musical arrangements were made and conducted by Bro. George Robinson, who gave valuable services during the evening. The town brethren returned homo at about 1 o’clock next morning.
