An organ recital was given last Tuesday evening at St. Mark’s Church in aid of the Choir Fund. There was a fair attendance. The names of the team selected by the Match Committee to represent Wellington in the match against the Australian team are published in another column. We have to acknowledge the receipt from Messrs Benjamin Smith and Co. of a copy of their monthly list of properties for sale or to be let. The list is a long one, and includes not only city properties but a large number in country townships, and many rural estates.

Mr Samuel Brown’s meeting at the Athonasum on Monday was a very orderly one, the only interruption being when, early in the meeting, Mr Fisher walked in and took a Beat among the audience. Mr Fisher.received quite an ovation, which interrupted Mr Brown (who was speaking at the time) for a minute or so.

Majors Crowe and Gudgeon, Land Claims Commissioners, sailed for .Lyttelton on Monday by the steamer Tarawera. Sittings will be held at several of the towns in the South Island. Their Honors Mr Justice Williams and Mr Justice Johnston, accompanied by their secretaries, were also passengers by the same steamor.

The November number of Messrs T. Kennedy Macdonald and Co.’s Wellington Landed Property Guide is published. As usual it gives full particulars of land sales in the oity and surrounding country districts, and particulars of properties now for sale or to lease. There is also a great deal of similar information respecting property in the other parts of the Colony. In addition there are various extrsct and orginal articles and paragraphs on matters useful to buyers and sellers. The schedule of freehold and letting values of propery in Wellington, of which two instalments had already been published, is continued, Te Aro Ward being dealt with. Next month the schedule for Cook Ward will appear,. with a final summary at the close. The information given is of great value, and in future times will be of exceeding interest to 'those - watching, the growth of the -city,.
