BANK ROBBERY IN VICTORIA.

Melbourne, November 24. The Albert Park branch of the National Bank of Australia was stuck up this afternoon at 3 o’clock. The manager, who fired three on his assailants without effect, was overpowered, and the robbers made off with L9O. The police, however, followed, and. succeeded in arresting the gang. It is reported that the manager was wounded in the hand.
Mr Dare, the manager of the Albert Park branch of the Natjonal Bank of Australasia, displayed great courage in his encounter with the robbers this afternoon. Several shots were fired on both sides, though without effect. Mr Dare received a cut on his baud through breaking a window. Melbourne, November 25.
The men who stuck up the National Bank of Australasia at Albert Park yesterday are brothers, and only recently arrived in Australia. They allege that they: were starving, and this led to the crime. One of them had previously interviewed the manager, Mr Dare, on pretence , of opening an
account at the bank. The total amount stolen was L 250, most of which has. been recovered.
