The arrival of vessels with cargo from England since our last report have been the. ship Timaru, from London, and the barque Cormorant, from Liverpool. Business is generally reppited as having been very quiet during the past week, with no great changes in values. Wines, beer, and spirits show no alterations of consequence. Prices of the Auckland Company’s sugar have somewhat dropped, the rates in Auckland being No. 1, L 25 per ton; No. 2, L 24; and No, 3, LlB. In Wellington the prices are—No. 1, L 27 ; No. 2, L 25 10s to L 26 ; No. 3, L2O. Elemes are quoted at 6d to and new currants at to s§d. Salmon are still high, and are very firm in San Francisco and New York. There have been few transactions in gtinned lobsters, which are unchanged in price. Some fine salt arrived by the Cormorant, from Liverpool, and a small quantity has been purchased in Dunedin ; but the total amount received has been too small to affect the prices here, which remain at from L 4 10s to L 5 per ton. , Kerosene is still in very full stock, but it is chiefly held by two firms, who prefer holding it-to sacrificing it. Candles show no irrrprovement in value, and give no sign of rise, as prices are still falling in England. Best Japan rice is quoted at from L2O to L2olosper tom ~ ; \ STOCK SALES. * ... - 'Dunedin, November 24. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report (per Mr D. Stronach)as follows :—l5B , cattle were yarded. ' Best bullocks brought L 8 15s to Lll 2s 6d ; .light and mediums, L 5 to L 7 15s ; one extra heavy,' Ll 7 10s. Beef, 27s 6d per 100 lbs. Sheep—--1912 were penned. Best crossbreds shorn, brought 9s to 12s; medium. 5s to 8s 6d ; merino wethers in the wool, 9s 6d to 11s 9d; do shorn, 4s 6d to 5s 6d ; mutton, to ljd per lb. 749 lambs brought 4s to 10s 9d each. There were only 14 pigs to hand. Suckers brought 10s 6d to 11s ; porkers, '24s' to 295. . ,Christchurch, November 24.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report (per Mr E. G. Stavelej') as follows :At Addington yards to-day, moderate entries of stock were yarded. Fat cattle were quiet. Bullocks brought L - to L 8 10s; cows and heifers, L 5 to L 6 15s. Beef, 21s per 100 lb. There was a fair de- v mand for store- cattle. Fat sheep were dull. Shorn crossbred wethers brought 8s to 12s 6d ; mixed crossbreds, 6s to 10s 6d ; merino wethers, 4s to 5s 3d, Mutton averaged lid per lb. Fat lambs brought 6s to 9s 9d. Store sheep were quiet. Shorn hoggets brought 3s lOd to 6s Id. For pigs there was a good demand with values' unchanged, 1
