STEALING LETTERS.

(united press association.) Invercargill, November 24. At the Police Court this morning, Fredk. H. Dale, letter-carrier, was charged with stealing a post letter containing three one pound notes. After the evidence had been taken at length the accused made a statement admitting his guilt, and attributing the act to drink. He stated that he intended to replace' the money taken. Accused was committed for trial. There are three other charges against Dale to be heard this afternoon. Later.

F. H. Dale, letter-carrier, was committed for trial on four charges of theft of letters, one of which contained £3, and another a locket valued at £7 10s ; a third letter was detained to avert suspicion.
