The Indian Government has chartered 15 steamers in order to convey a force of 10,000 troops to Burmah in October next, in order to suppress the Dacoit disturbances in that country. London, August 24. Three per cent Consols have further -declined -f, and are now ,-quoted New Zealand securities and colonial breadstuff’s are un■changed. The Aiaetralian mails per Messageries s.s. Salazie, dated Melbourne., July 17th, were delivered to-day, via Marseilles.

Sydney, August 25. A n angry altercation took place last evening between several members in the vestibule of the Legislative Assembly, and eealminated in stand-up fights between Messrs Tyne and Clarke and Shepherd and Dawson. The scene is described as a most disgraceful .one.

Adelaide, August 25. The Colonial Treasurer delivered an amended Financial Statement in the Legislative Assembly last night, showing a material increase in the revenue. The debit balance for the current year is now estimated at £SO9,OQO, insteavd of £950,000, as in the previous Budget. The estimated expenditure is not changed. The proposed reduction of salaries is to be foregone, but the Civil Service is to be re-modelled. The Treasurer estimates the yield of

wheat this season at seven bushels per acre.

Brisbane, August 24.

A fire broke out in the Legislative Assembly to-day, which was caused by the fusing of the electric light wires in the building. The outbreak was extinguished before much damage was done. The Government have received a telegram from Home, stating that thereds no foundation for the report which had been circulated to the effect that the Imperial Government had promised to introduce a Bill providing for the separation of North from South Queensland. Hobab,t, August 25. The Tasmanian Parliament was opened to-day by his Excellency the Governor.
