STOCK SALES.
Ghristchukch, August 25. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report per Mr E. G. Staveley as follows : At Addington yards to-day 2500 fat sheep were yarded. There was a sharp rise in values. Best cross-bred wethers brought from 16s to 20s medium mixed 10s to 14s : merino wethers prime 10s to 13s 6d; ordinary, 6s to 8s; mutton, to per lb. There were no store sheep. There was an average supply of fat cattle, mostly of medium quality. There was a brisk sale and prices rose to 27s 6d per lOOlbs. For prime heavy bullocks, L 9 and LlO were given. Store cattle—full grown steers, L 5 10s. Pigs—There was a large entry. Values were unchanged. Dunedin, August 25. Best bullocks brought L 7 10s to L 9 15s ; light and medium L4ssto L 7 ss; beef 20s per lOOlbs. Sheep —1583 were penned. Best crossbred ewes and wethers brought 11s 3d to 14s 3d ; two pens 14s 9d; medium to good 6s 3d to 10s 6d ; merino wethers, 6s to 11s ; mutton lid to l£d per lb. There were 169 pigs. Suckers and slips brought 2s to 15s; porkers 17s to 25s ; baconers 27s to 50s ; one pen, very heavy weights, to 673.
