(UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION.! Chbistchuech, May 11. At the meeting of the Drainage Board tonight, a letter was read from tbe Bank of New Zealand, declining to accept the Board's cheque for £6135, amount of interest due by" the Board in London on June 30th. The manager returned the cheque, and wrote that he could not pay the amount until he received from the Board a guarantee that they would apply to Government for additional rating power, or take such other steps as would greatly reduce the present overdraft.
