THE MISSING TOWN CLERK.
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Christchurch, May 12. The auditors of the Kaiapoi Borough Council, whose clerk was missing some days ago, have reported that after considerable trouble and difficulty in examining che books, which were kept in a very bad manner, they have succeeded in preparing an accurate balance-sheet, and, after a careful and searching audit, they find that the cash is correc 1 . It is understood that the Clerk lias been taking a holiday on his own account.
