A number of the creditors in the Oriental Bank are accepting 17s in the £, as full satisfaction of their demands. They are now receiving 10s of that amount, and will receive the remaining 7s in September. It is believed that at least half of the creditors will accept these terms. It has been suggested that Sir Saul Samuel, Agent-General for New South Wales, should be appointed as joint commissioner for that colony at the forthcoming Colonial Exhibition. It is considered unlikely that Sir Philip Cunlifle Owen will act on the London committee.

The Press generally are unanimous as to the popularity of the appointment of Lord Carington as Governor of New South Wales.

London, March 11. Mr George Anderson, M.P. for Glasgow, who has been appointed Deputy-Master of the Royal Mint at Melbourne, has been presented with a testimonial by his constituents and friends.

The Times trusts that the loyal enthusiasm displayed by the colonies in regard to assistance for the Soudan will induce an adhesion to the further offers made in case of their, being required for other foreign service. It is improbable that any reduction in the present bank rate will now take place.
