WESLEYAN CONFERENCE

CIRCUIT APPOINTMENTS.

(UNITED FRESS ASSOCIATION.) Dunedin, January 22.

The following appointments have been made, subject to revision :—Wellington, Revs W. C. Oliver and L. M. Isitt ; Maori Mission, Rev Hetaraka Wairihi ; Hutt, Rev S. Garlick ; Masterton, Rev W. Slade ; Grey town, a probationer ; Napier, Revs W. Baumber and F. J. .Tones ; N Palmerston North, Rev R. C. Bunn ; Sandon and Feilding, Rev -T. Simmons ; Rangitikei, Rev W. Worker ; Wanganui, Rev YV. Tinsley. Dunedin, January 23.

A considerable portion of the time of this morning’s session was occupied in the consideration of the applications of Revs Josiah Ward and C. E. Bailey, of the Primitive Methodist Church, to be received into the Wesleyan miuistrv. It was resolved that both applicants be received. A temperance demonstration, largely attended, was held in Trinity Church, when addresses were delivered by the Revs Oliver, Williams, Isett, and Garland. Dunedin, January 24.

Messrs Fellos, Burrows and Law were proposed as candidates for the ministry, aud were unanimously received for further training at Wesley College, Auckland. Rev YVm. Kirk applied to be placed on the list as a permanent supernumerary on account of advanced years. Mr Kirk has been engaged in the active work of the ministry thirty-nine years. Mr Morley was requested to prepare a resolution for the printed minutes, setting forth the high sense entertained by the Conference of the worth of Mr Kirk’s labors. The work of the students iu Wesley College duriug the year was reviewed. It was decided that two of the students (Messrs Rothwell and Lowry) should commence circuit work this year. The Stationing Committee will resume its work early on Monday morning. Dunedin, January 26.

The native ministers are appointed in each case as deemed suitable.

A resolution in recognition of the long and valuable services of the Rev William Kirk was, ou the motion of the Rev William Morley, unanimously adopted. Dunedin, January 27.

At the Wesleyan Conference on Tuesday, an ordination service was held last night in Trinity Church. The Revs Garland, Slade, Parsonson and Penfold were ordained to the work of the ministry. There was a large congregation. The charge was delivered by ex-president Morley. A short ministerial session of the conference was held this morning, when arrangements were made for the appointment of Home missionaries. The Board of Examiners for the year was appointed, and this closed for the present the ministerial session. The United Conference assembled at 10 o’clock. Representatives from all the districts of the colony, except Wanganui, were present. An address of welcome was delivered by the President, An application to form Kajjapoi, Rangiora, and Woodeud into one circuit was negatived. An amendment by Morley to unite Woodeud and Kaiapoi with Ohoka into one circuit was carried. Gisborne was transferred to the Wellington district. A motion to form Paroa into a separate station was negatived.
