THE LONDON MARKETS.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile A-gency Company (Limited) have received the following cablegram from their London office, dated 20th January : Wool. —The sales opened this day at the level of last series, except for faulty sorts. Scoured and medium and inferior greasy are easier. Seedy and burry wools are neglected. Up to date 241,000 bales have arrived; 30,000 bales have been sent to the manufacturing districts direct. The opening catalogue contained 7600 bales, but was not a representative one. The Home and German demand is good, but from other quarters the demand is poor. The next sales will commence on 17th March.

Wheat.—Market quiet. Adelaide is worth 38s per 4961b5; New Zealand ditto, 34s 6d ; tuscan, 36s 6d. Adelaide f.a.q. is worth c.i.f. off coast, 36s per 4801bs, and is quoted to arrive, iron ship, c.i.f., 37s per 4801bs per January bill of lading.
