We notice that the Police Offences Bill has been passed by the House. Perhaps the measure might with advantage have been simplified in some of its details, but on the whole it is a great improvement on the existing law. The section relating to Sunday trading is not altogether satisfactor} 7 . It is not clear that printers engaged on the work of bringing out Monday morning’s newspapers are exempt from the penalty attached to pursuing an ordinary trade or calling on Sunday. The Legislative Council should see to it.
