The Customs duties collected at the port of Wellington during the past week amounted to L 6625. The amount collected.in the colohy for the month of July was L 111,056 ; arid the beer duty, £3998. George Thomas reports produce prices for the past weok as follows :—ln oats there is a slightly increased demand, but prices show at present no alteration, although I have been advised of an advance in the southern market of 2d per bushel. Flour, best brands, dull, at Lit 5s : fowls’ wheat, from 3s 3d to 3s 6d, according to sample ; oatmeal, Ll 3 : bran, L 4 10s ; pollard, from L 5 to L 6: oaten chaff, L 4 5s ; maize, 3s 5d to 33 9d ; barley, 2s Od ; potatoes have been rather active, and prices show an increase of 5s per ton, being now quoted at L3ss to L 3 10s; cheese, well supplied, at 6id ; hams and bacon, prime smoked, B{d to 9d ; farmers’ cure, 3d to Od ; salt butter remains quite unsaleable, the season being now too far advanced to anticipate any improvement; for prime quality, 8d is obtainable with difficulty ; fresh, from Is to Is 4d ; eggs. Is 3d ; fowls, 3s 6d ; turkeys, 8s Od ; geese, 7s. Fruit is exceedingly hard to move off at prices to oven bring out shippers clear of loss. There was a fair attendance at Messrs T. Kennedy Macdonald and Co’s Land Sale yesterday, when a number of town and country properties were submitted. The bidding for some of the properties was spirited. The property, part of Town Acre 677, Sussex srjuare, 45ft frontage, was sold to Mr W. Miller, as agent, for L 350. Two cottages on part of Town Acre 122, Waiter-street, with a frontage 33ft, sold to Mr Robert Miller for L 230. The property in Sydney - street was bought in at L 750. Sections at Petone and Woodville were bought in, and are now open for private sale. THE LABOR MARKET.
