OPINIONS OF THE PRESS ON THE CRISIS.
(PER PRESS AGENCY.)
Dunedin, July 1. The Daily Times (a Ministerial organ), discussing the situation, says :—“ The Premier may possibly think by surrounding himself with men entirely after his own heart, like Messrs. Moss and Rees, he may be able to meet Parliament with the hope of carrying through or going to the country on the ultraLiberal platform ; but though a dissolution might have been granted to a united Ministry, we very much doubt whether Sir George Grey will obtain one under present circumstances. His prospect of carrying through we regard as hopeless, and if he is wise in time he will recognise this, and invite his Excellency to send for some member of the Opposition. There must now be an entire reconstruction, and we should not be surprised to see a coalition Cabinet. A prolonged crisis at this juncture is not to be thought of without dismay.”
