We have not yet heard of the direct cause of the step being taken, but should suppose it was on a question of vital importance raised in Cabinet when discussing the measures to be submitted to Parliament.’ The above is all the Colonial Treasurer’s paper lias to say about his resignation. We presume the sub-editor is waiting instructions from Wellington, to tell his readers all about the war, and what they scragged each other for. At Mr. Bryce’s meeting he will probably applaud to the echo the vigorous attack on the Ministry, which, we understand, will be a prominent feature in Mr. Bryce’s address to his constituents. Is this the ‘ private business which requires his presence iu Wanganui ?”
