Commercial News.

The amount of Customs duties received at this port for the week ending February 6th, 1879, was as under :

Sugar .. .. 436 2 4 | £7401 6 5 A fair amount of business has been doing in the import trade during the past week, notwithstanding the interruptions caused by race holidays, &c. A reference to our Customs' receipts for the week will show that stocks have increased considerably, but prices remain without alteration, and low enough to compete successfully with shipments from any of the Australian ports. We have no special changes in quotations to report. In New Zealand produce prices remain unaltered from last week's report, with only a moderate trade doing.
