He has been a good performer, having won nine races at all distances, with heavy weights, beating such celebrated horses as Tambourini, Burgundy, Yatterina, Misfortune, and Hatred. Through his dam. he is directly related to some of the best race horses ever in New Zealand, viz., " Wetsail," the best mare of her day, " Stormbird," winner of the Canterbury cup of 1000 sovereigns, Belle of the Isle," (own sister to Southern Chief) winner of the Canterbury cup of 1000 sovereigns, and dam of the renowned " Templeton." Southern Chief has now been at the stud four seasons, the whole time in the Wairarapa, where his stock are very much admired, and command high prices, being substantial and handsome. He is being offered for sale solely on account of wanting change of blood. He is in splendid condition, and will be sold on liberal terms to leave the Wairarapa. For further particulars apply to J.
