No nominations have been received from Melbourne for the Dunedin Cup. By telegraph from Dunedin we learn that the following nominations have been made for the St. Andrew’s Handicap : —Helme’s Faughaballagh ; Goodman’s Kathleen and Verbena ; Leekie’s Congreve ; Hutchison’s Mabel ; Nosworthy’s Tadmor and Traitor ; Pritchard’s Pertobe ; Broadway’s Miss Bowe ; Cotten’sEnvy; Hastie’s Lydia ; Combes’ Bight Bower. There are sixteen nominations for the Spring Handicap, including Mabel, Tadmor, Envy, Traitor, Sonnambula, Hurdle, Walkover, Kildare. The following are the handicaps for the Auckland Cup :—Tambourini, lOst. ; Yatterina, 9st. ; Templeton, Sst. lllbs. ; Parawhenua, Sst. 41bs. ; Creeping Jenny, Sst. ; Discord, 7st. 41bs. ; Bang!, fist. 121bs. ; Wainui, fist. 121bs. ; Guy Fawkes, 6st. lOlbs. ; Toi, fist. Slbs. ; Titoko, fist. Slbs. ; Maid of the Mountain, 6st. Slbs. A public meeting was held at Napier last night to take into consideration the present position of the Jockey Club in the province, with a view to make the annual races more satisfactory to the owners of horses and the public than lately. A sale of racing stock took place at Christchurch on Saturday, Ngaro sold to B. Farmer, Hawke’s Bay, for 500 guineas; Titoki to same purchaser for 100 guineas, but Mr. Farmer afterwards sold it privately to Mr. H. Prince, bookmaker, for 150 guineas; Tadmor sold for 250 guineas. A bid for Wainui was refused, and 100 guineas was refused for Bangi-Pokatu. He was sold to Mr. McGlashan for 130 guineas. Stakes paid over by the Canterbury Jockey Club on Saturday were as follows : —O’Brien, £577 10s.; Delamaine, £399 ; P. Campbell, £281; Bedwood, £150155.; ITeyde, £95; Barker, £47; W. Walters, £7O ; McKinnon, £47 ; Lunn, £2O. Twenty-six entries for Derby, 1875, were received on Saturday night. The Victorian Bacing Club’s late meeting at Melbourne was financially, and in respect to attendance, the most successful ever held on Flemington Course. A sum of £6OOO was realised at the gates on the Cup day alone. Haricot’s victory was a good thing for the ring, and saved many. Melbourne won the Flemington Plate—three miles—beating both Goldsbrough and The Diver. Gaslight won the Oaks Stakes.
CHRISTCHURCH RACES. Friday, November 13. Nearly £6OO was taken in shillings at the gates of the Agricultural Show yesterday. The Metropolitan Baces were continued today. The weather was fine, and there was a large attendance. Handicap Hurdle Bace of 50sovs., added to a sweepstakes of 3sovs. ; two miles, over eight flights of hurdles. Hedge’s Theodore, 9st. lllbs. ... ... 1 Lunn’s Alice Grey, lOst. 71bs. ... ... 2 Alice Grey lost several lengths at the start. Both horses jumped splendidly throughout. Alice Grey gained gradually all the way round, and half up the straight course was on level terms, hard ridden, but Theodore let out, and won easily by two lengths. The Christchurch Plate of ISOsovs., added to a sweepstakes of ssovs. Previous winners to carry extra weight. Two miles. Mr. Bedwood’s Ngaro, 3yrs., 6st. Slbs. ... 1 Mr. Nosworthy’s Traitor, 4yrs., Sst. 71b5.... 2 Mr. O’Brien’s Tambourini, aged, lOst. lllbs. 3 Yatterina, Templeton, Wainui, Sonnambula, and the Ada colt were scratched. Betting was five to four on Traitor, three to one against Ngaro, and two and three to one against Tambourini. Traitor made the running at a hot pace, Tambourini lying second for the first mile, when Ngaro began to go up. He collared Traitor in the straight running, and after a magnificent race home, won by half a head. Tambourini was out-paced from the start, and was pulled up in the straight. Time : 3min. 48secs. The Metropolitan Handicap of lOOsovs., added to a sweepstakes of ssovs. each. One mile and a half. Mr. Delamain’s Templeton, 4yrs., 9st. lib. _ 1 Mr. Campbell’s Tadmor, 3yrs., 7st. 71bs. ... 2 Mr. Barker’s Bemnant, 3yrs., 6st. lllbs. ... 3 Yatterina, Parawhenui, Bangi, The Belle, and The Exile, also ran. Tambourini, Traitor, Sonnambula, Toi, Marvel, Emmeline colt, and Zig-Zag colt, were scratched. After nine false starts the lot were got away on fair terms, Parawlienui leading. Yatterina was last when half-way over the course. Templeton and The Exile gained on Parawhenui, and the latter was soon afterwards passed by Tadmor. Coming down the straight Templeton, Tadmor, and Bemnant came to the front, and after a splendid struggle Templeton won by half a length. Time : 2min. 48sec. Parawhenui and Yatterina were the favorites at starting. Consolation Handicap of 40 sovs. One mile. The Exile, 6st. 71b. ... ... ... ... 1 Waverley, 7st. 31b. ... ... ... ... 2 Parawhenui, Sst. 101 b. ... ... ... 3 The Exile led all the way and won easily.
