Notes. —Rather 'net and dull up to Bbh, ■wind chiefly S.E., heavy gale on 2nd from N.W. ; pleasant from 9th to 20th, light winds from N.W. to N.E., very mild and genial for time of year j on 21st barometer- commenced to fill, and in the evening it came on to rain heavily, and very strong N.W. wind at night ; heavy rain on 23rd from S.E., and stormy at times, very cold ; continued showery, stormy, and unpleasant for remainder of month, but very severe on 26th, when the wind changed from light N.E. in the morning to S.E. in the afternoon and brought heavy rain and wind, at night changed to S.W. and blew hard with rain, hail, and sleet, very cold and severe, 2*170 inches recorded on morning of 27th, barometer 29428 j again on 27th strong from S.W. with rain and slight hail; 28bh, 29th, and 30th fine and bright with clear frosty nights. Maximum temperature, in the shade, 62'° minimum Earthquake on the 12th at 7*40 p.m. slight. R- B. Gobb, Gtovernmeafc Observer.
