The Nevada left Honolulu on 30th July. After leaving Honolulu she broke her spring bearing, and made the passage under half speed. Capt. Moeller specially detained the cutter Hero at Tauranga to take Gre* ville's brief despatch. A full summary of news will arrive by the Taranaki A great fire has occurred at Rheims by the explosion of petroleum ; fifty persons were killed. The London police dipersed a public meeting for promoting public emigration. The chief of the Dublin police has been murdered ; supposed by a Fenian. The Asiatic cholera has appeared in Poland. Great riot at New York ; the troops fired on the mob, and many were killed and wounded. Archbishop Guibert, of Tours, is the successor to Darboy, Archbishop of Paris. Further Communists have been arrested at Montiogue. Thiers has written a letter to the Pope favorable to the Papal policy if other powers act with her. The murderer of Prim has been arrested. Probable resignation of the Spanish Ministry. VERY LATEST. July 20.—Four counts brought against Rochfort. Several members of the Royal family have visited Napoleon. Gladstone will state in the House of Commons to-morrow that Government is determined to abolish the purchase system in defiance of the House of Lords. Failing this they will resign. A London correspondent says that the claimant Tichborne is an illegitimate son of old Sir James Tichborne by the cook Mary Orton. The real Sir Roger perished in 1853. Small-pox is raging in New York, but decreasing in London. Gambetta authorises the opening of private letters. The French budget of 1871 is reduced 124 millions. There was a meeting of democrats in Hyde Park on Sunday, being the anniversary of the Reform demonstration. The Germans will evacuate Ruxinett, for the purpose of allowing invalids to visit the baths. Mr Leslie is elected to Parliament for Monaghan. The voting is still proceeding. A mob of three thousand has just entered the town, and troops are hastily despatched. COMMERCIAL. London, July 18. —The wool advance established at the opening has increased in proportions. Average advance, 10 per cent, and in some instances greater. Kauri gum, good demand. In flax there is little attention; few lots sold at 22Z 18s to 27Z 15s. Preserved meat sales—B26 packages New Zealand sold ; beef, 6d ; boiled mutton, s£d to 6|d ; ox tail soup, 6|d ; smoked sheep tongues, 9d; butter, middling, 48s to 525. New York. —Kerosene dull, 32 cents, with some activity.
