DR. S. M. D. MARTIN, begs leave to intimate to the Public, that he is not responsible for any Article that may appear in this days' Paper, or in any future Number of the Auckland Herald, until further notice; the Trustees of this paper having sanctioned the conduct of their Printer in refusing to insert his leading articles to-day, notwithstanding that several of Dr. Martin's friends have come forward and offered security (without Dr. Martin's sanction and knowledge,) that they would be responsible in the event of his publishing any thing libellous. Dr. Martin cannot view the circumstances in any other light than as an attempt on the part of some persons connected with the Government to suppress the expression of public opinion through the'Press.
