REGATTA.~-In a late number we informed our readers that His Excellency the Governor had kindly consented to patronise the forthcoming Regatta, on the 17th March, but we now are enabled to state that in conseqnence of the appointment of the Stewards, whom we know to be well qualified, the Regatta will be got up in a respectable manner. We are informed that a few gentlemen have established a Club for the encouragement of aquatic sports, to be called the “ Leander Club,” and have given instructions to our fellow townsman, Mr. Davis, to build boats. We have not yet been made acquainted with the amount of the entrance fee for the several races, or of the prizes which are to be contested for, but we hope to be able to give the remaining particulars in our next. “Bay of Islands Observer.” —A Company of gentlemen having secured a press and types, intend publishing a weekly journal at Kororarika, the first number of which, we are informed, will appear on the first of next month, (Feb.) “ Port Nicholson Truth Teller.’’ —We are informed that as soon as the necessary workmen and materials can be procured from Sydney, a Newspaper, the size of the Sydney Herald will be printed and published in Port Nicholson.
