James M'Alpin appeared to a Summons to answer the information and complaint of James Smith, chief constable of Auckland, against him for retailing, without license, one quart of spirituous liquors. It also appeared that several scenes of disorder had previously occurred at M'Alpin's unlicensed house. The case being fully proved he was fined in the full penalty of £3O, and costs. A quantity of spirits which had, been seized from the premises were coudemned and sold, the amount to be appropriated as the Act directs. M'Alpin was also severely admonished by the Bench for allowing his premises to be the scene of disorderly conduct, and cautioned against a a repetition. Bellevue House. We are informed, that this splendid House is taken by a highly respectable gentleman, who intends opening it in a few days, as a Family and General Hotel. From the beautiful site of the premises, we have no doubt the proprietor will meet with encouragement from a discerning public.
