Heats. —Twice round and a distance ; 3 horses to start or no race. The winner to be sold for £l5O ; if demanded in the usual way, the owner of the second Horse tq be first entitled. THE VALPARAISO STAKES, of Two Sovereigns eadh and £2O added by the Committee. Handicap. (Heats). —Twice round the Auckland Course, Gentlemen Riders. Second Bay. LADIES’ PURSE, of £3 each, for Horses of all denominations, (the second Horse to save his Stake) with contents find £lO added. 3 years old .......... A race; eight leaps, three feet six inches high ; four to start, or no race; to carry weight as follows: — 3 years old. 4 years old, 5 years old 6 years old and aged 9st. 71bs. 10 9 11 7 12 0 Gentlemen riders. A PURSE for beaten horses, and that have not won at this Meeting; £l entrance; and £ls added by the Committee. Catch weights. The entries must be made on or before Saturday, the First of January, 1842. Memo. 1. In any dispute, all parties must abide by the j decision of the Stewards. 2. Post entrance allowed on paying double. 3. The Course to be open for Innkeepers and Publicans, by permission of the Stewards, to erect Booths, on payment to the Racing Fund of £1 each. 4. Any private matches taking place on the days of the Races to pay One Guinea entrance to the Funds for the use of the Course. 5. No false starts allowed; and all dogs found on the Course to be destroyed. 6. Jockey costume must be worn. Subscriptions for the above Races will be received at the following places, viz :—the Bank, Wood’s Royal Hotel, Watson’s Exchange Hotel, Hill’s Yew Tree Inn, Mason and Paton’s Auction Mart, and at the Office of the Auckland Printing Company. It is requested that all parties whose names are on the Subscription Lists will be pleased to pay their respective amounts to Lieut. Best, Treasure, on or before the 15th Instant. N. B.—The Betting Rooms will beat Watson’s Exchange Hotel.
