Regt. Clerk of the Course —11. Benson, Esq. AT a Meeting of the Inhabitants of Auckland and Manukao, held at Woods’ Royal Hotel, on the 3rd November, 1841, W. Young, Esq., in the chair, it was resolved that the above Races do take place on the Auckland Race-course, the first Wednesday in January, and following days. prizes as follows : First Day. AUCKLAND TOWN PLATE, in Specie, by Subscription of 3 sovereigns each withadded by the Committee, for all Ages, 3 years old Bst. 71b. 4 years old ... 9 3 5 years old 9 12 6 and aged 10 10 ' Mares and Geldings allowed 31bs. Heats.—Once round and a distance; 3 "horses to start or no race. The winner to be sold for £l5O ; if demanded in the usual way, the owner of the second Horse to be first entitled. THE VALPARAISO STAKES. (Handicap). Heats.—Once round the Auckland Course, Gentlemen Riders. Second Day. LADIES’ PURSE, of £3 each, for Horses of all denomininations, (the second Horse to save his Stake). 3 years old Bst. 7lbs. 4 years old 9 3 5 years old .......... 9 12 6 and aged 10 10 N.B.—The winner of the Town Plate to carry 7 lbs. extra. HURDLE RACE, £2 each, with purse added by the Committee ; twice round the course. A race; six leaps, three feet six inches high; four to start, or no race; to carry weight as follows : Gentlemen riders. A PURSE for beaten horses, and that have not won at this Meeting; £l entrance; catch weights. The entries must be made on or before Saturday, the First of January, 1842. Memo. 1. In any dispute, all parties must abide by the decision of the Stewards. 2. Post ..entrance allowed on paying double. 3. The Course to be open for Innkeepers and Publicans, by permission of the Stewards, to erect Booths, on payment to the Racing Fund of £l each. 4. Any private matches taking place on the days of the Races to pay One Guinea entrance to the Funds for the use of the Course. 5. No false starts allowed; and all dogs found on the Course to be destroyed. 6. Jockey costume must be worn. Subscriptions for the above Races will be received at the following places, viz the Bank, Wood’s Royal Hotel, Watson’s Exchange Hotel, Hill’s Yew Tree Inn, Mason and Paton’s Auction Mart, and at the Office of the Auckland Printing Company. N. B.—The Betting Rooms will beat Watson’s Exchange Hotel. WILLIAM YOUNG, Chairman. EPSOM EACES I! J THOMAS RUSSELL, of the “ Rising Sun’’ Tavern, Lower Queen-street, begs most respectfully to inform his friends, the sporting community, and the public at large, that he intends erecting a large and commodious REFRESHMENT BOOTH on the Race Course during the ensuing Races in January next, and hopes by providing for the occasion a good stock of Wines, Spirits, &c. &c., of the first qualities, that he may merit a share of the public patronage at his Booth, which will be distinguished from the others by a flag bearing the emblem of the HORSE AND JOCKEY. A Cold Collation will be provided each day. GOOD STABLING FOR HORSES. Weekly Conveyance between Auckland and Manukao. A MAIL CART for the conveyance of Letters and Passengers between Auckland and Onehunga, on the Manukao, will start once in each week from Wood’s Royal Hotel; and the starting shall he so regulated that the Cart may arrive at Onehunga at high water, to join the Ferry-boat plying at Karungahapu. Apply at Wood’s Royal Hotel.
