NEW ZEALAND HERALD, AND AUCKLAND GAZETTE. WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 13, 1841. Arrival of His Excellency the Governor.
The Victoria, government brig, arrived on Monday from Port Nicholson, and,*at 4p. m., His Excellency, with the Surveyor General, Feltcn Matthew, Esq., and Lady\, Lieutenant Smart, A. D. C, Edward Shortland, Esq., Private Secretary, and W. Connell, Esq., landed in Official Bay. His Excellency was received by Government Officers and other gentlemen, and a large concourse of assembled inhabitants.; He landed amidst loud cheers, and was gTeeted with hearty'demonstrations of welcome.
