New Church. —The ceremony of laying the foundation stone of a metropolitan church for Auckland, owing to the inclement weather, has been deferred to Monday next, at twelve o'clock. The Governor has consented to assist at the ceremony, and it is expected there will be an appropriate procession on the occasion. Benefit Society.—At a Meeting of the Committee, held at the School-house, on Monday evening, Mr. J. A. Brown in the chair, several new members were admitted, and a motion adopted for the revision of the Rules, which will speedily be printed. Kokorarika.—A general meeting of the shareholders of the Bank took place on the 16th inst., Captain Mayhew in the chair, to elect four directors, in the room of those who retire by rotation. There was much discussion as to the proper construction of the deed of settlement, and it was decided that all shareholders, who had not paid up the calls, should not vote on the occasion. The result of the ballot was, the election of Mr. Wilson in the place of Mr. Thomson, by a majority of seven.
