PATRICK BEATS STOCK KNOCK-OUT IN FIFTH ROUND (Reed. 6.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, Nov. 11 Vic Patrick, Australian light and welterweight title-holder, knocked out the ISevv Zeaiander. A 1 Stock, in the fifth round of a 12-round boxing contest at the Sydney Stadium last night. It was Patricks first tight lor I*2 months and his display proved that he is still as good a fighter as ever. In the fifth round Patrick snapped Stocks wind with a left rip to the solar plexus. Stock took a count of eight but rose and fought back gamely until Patrick sent nun to the floor for a second time with a vicious two-handed attack. Stock took tho full count. "From tho first round Stock was content to ] be a human punching bag. Ho stood in front, of Patrick with both arms curled up round his chin. This was his only line of defence. ■lt was the first time in 40 fights that block had been knocked out. , Stock said Patrick's blows carried more weight than any man he had ever fought. Patrick said Stock was the toughest fighter he had ever met.
