REMUERA WEDDINGS
MONKS-WATERS
The wedding of Mir-3 Marcia Berrl Waters, third daughter of Mrs A Waters, of Remuera, to Warrant Offifcr John Monks. Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force (recently returned from the Middle East), 'on!v son of Mr and Mrs A. Monks, of Grey Lynn, took place at Sr. Aid an's Church Remuera, on Saturday evening. Canon Connolly officiated. The bride, who was given away br her brother, Mr A. Waters, wore j gown of white sand crepe, fashioned on classical lines. Her veil was held in place hy a topknot of roses, carnations and lily-of-the-valley. and she carried a shoal of the same flowers. Attending as bridesmaids were the bride's sister. -Miss Wilms Waters, and Miss Xoeliue Monks. sister, of the bridegroom. They .were dressed alike in frocks of pale blue sand crepe, made on similar lines to the bride's, and topknots in cyclamen tonings of sweet peas, tulips and stock. The best man was Signalman 'Norman Henry, Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force (returned from the Middle East), and Mr Jack Lees was groomsman. The reception was held at the Parn«ll Kiosk.
SHEPHKHD—.JORY The marriage of .Miss Nona Emma Jory, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs H. D. Jory, Hastings Road, Mairaiyi Bay, to Sergeant Milton William Shepherd, Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force (returned after four years' service overseas), son of Mrs G. Donovan, of Birkenhead, took place at St. Paul's Methodist Church, Remuera, on October 20. The bride's uncle, the Rev. W. Walker, officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of white cloque, made with long pointed sleeves, a bodice beaded on the yoke and at the waistline, and a fully-trained skirt. An embroidered tulle veil edged with lace was caught to her head by a topknot of orange-blossom and tiny lilies and she i carried a bouquet of white roses and ; liiy-of-the-valle.v. Attending the bride were her sisters, Misses Maureen and Yvonne -Jory, who wore frocks of pale delphinium blue self-striped voile, made with gathered bodices and very full skirts. Their halo half-hats were of taffeta in a slightly deeper shade and their bouquets of pink sweet peas and rosebuds. Margaret Woodhams as flower-girl wore pale pink voiie. The best man was Mr Laurie Pilkington and the groomsman Mr Allan Parsons. The reception was held in the Sunday School Hall. CEREMONY AT ONEHUNGA HALL-BRAY The marriage of Miss Alma Grace Brav, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs L. Bray, of Arthur Street, Onelninga, to Mr Alan William Hall, second son of Mr and Mrs W. D. B. Hall, of Mount Smart Road, Oneliunga, took place on Saturday last at ! St. Peter's Church, Onehunga. The Rev. S. G. Caulton officiated and a wlo was sung by Mrs Browne Morris. The bride, who was given away ot her father, wore a charming gown of ivory embossed satin, cut on graceful lines with a slim fitting bodice finished with an unusual rouleaux neck line, her circular skirt falling into a long train. Her tulle veil was caught at the head with a spray of orange-blossom and lily of the valley,- and she carried a bouquet of white roses and water hues. The bridesmaids. Miss Joyce Baker, and Miss Bertha Hall, sister of the bridegroom, were dressed alike in bevra blue marquisette frocks cut on similar lines to the bride's and wore Juliet caps of rouleaux to match. They carried bouquets of pink tulips and carnations. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr Lawrence Hall as best mail, and Mr Stephen Boughtwood as groomiman. . After the ceremony a reception held at the home of the bride's parents.
