AUCKLAND EXCHANGE LOCAL INDUSTRIALS SOUGHT Business covered a much wider range on the Auckland' Stock Exchange yesterday with values in most instances showing a firmer tendency. The demand for Government loans remained strong and interest was still keen in leading Is'ew Zealand industrials with woollens showing a general hardening. A strong demand lilted Reid rights 9d to 9s Vkl with holders quoting 10s for more. J he shares firmed oil sale to 31s 3d, a gain of Is 9d.

NORTH BROKEN HILL NET PROFIT OF £268,884 The net profit, of North Broken Hill, Ltd., at £268,884 for the year ended June .30, compares with £283,242 last year. This year's figure is arrived at after providing £113,000 for taxation and royalty, an increase, of £9OOO, and an unchanged sum of £7.",000 for depreciation. The unchanged dividend of Is 9d a uliare requires £245,000, and £50,000 is provided for new plant. Carryforward is £410,093, against £429,439 brought forward. The decrease in profit was due chiefly to reduced output and to reduced dividends from other companies. Ore reserve* were 5,183,0W tons, against 5,433,000 last year. HONGKONG BANKS The Bank of New South Wales advises that hanks reopened in Hongkong on October 17, for new domestic business only. LAND COMPANY'S YEAR LONDON, Oct. 24 The New Zealand and Australian Land Co. has passed the ordinary dividend, but has declared a final preference dividend of 2 per cent, making 4 per cent for the year.
